STUDIO 23

Last Years Work

Unique mixed media work using paint papers & textiles. Upycling plays an important part within my work, I use vintage textiles, paper others have discarded, packaging, and unwanted found things. I then deconstruct and reconstruct to create a new surface. Printing, stitch, paint, dye and other medias are then used to build layers and depth.

1-5 "IN THE BOX, OUT THE BOX"
This body of work was inspired by a trip to Sydney and my observations of reflections along the waters edge and on the beautiful skyscrapers of this city. The square windows depict that part of society that are unable to escape from the confinements of the box, the wibbly wobbly reflections depict those of us who are able to free ourselves and get out of the box!

6-7 Contemporary weave scarf and hand felted and embellished bag from the same project.

8-12 "EASTERN PROMISE"
Observations on colour and culture during my travels to the middle and far east.

13-19 WISHING DOLLS
These charming textile sculptured dolls are inspired from my many travels to the middle and far east. Unique colourful dancing ladies, made using wire, vintage textiles and beads, finished with a variety of mixed media and stitch.
